Imam Hamid
Slimi is a scholar who is specialized in Islamic studies and Law
as well as Comparative World Religions. He holds two Masters
degrees with High Honors in both disciplines and his Ph.D. is in
Islamic Law. He
received both his traditional and Academic learning in Morocco
and attended other renowned institutions and universities in
other parts of the world. He received his Masters in Comparative
World Religions from the U.S.A. Imam Slimi has been educated in
Arabic, French and English since
his early age as a little child, under the guidance of his
parents and many renowned scholars. He has received intensive
training and learning in many Islamic disciplines including
Islamic Creed (Aqeedah), Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Fundamentals
of Jurisprudence (Usul-ul-Fiqh), Objectives of Laws (Maqasid),
Exegesis (Tafseer), Seerah, Qur'an and Hadith Sciences
for many years. Both His Ijazah and Graduate Shahadat
are in Fiqh and Usul-ul-Fiqh.
His extensive research has been in
the field of Jurisprudential Rules as well as al-Fiqh al-Muqaaran
-Comparative Fiqh in the Four Madhabs.
Imam Slimi was ranked first in his graduation and received the
award of the best Research of the year in Islamic Jurisprudence.
He
is the
current Chairman of the Canadian
Council of Imams
He
is the Host
and Producer of "Faith
of Life" TV show which airs in different channels in
North America and the Publisher of
"Faith of Life"
Magazine.
He
Has been serving the Muslim Community for over 11 years in
Canada as Imam, educator, Chaplain and consultant on spiritual,
social and cultural issues for
a good number of different local and National institutions.
He has also been the Muslim
representative at the Ontario Multi-Faith Council and other
multi-faith forums. He is very active in the Inter-religious
Dialogue.
He Has
authored and produced work on different issues related to Islam
specifically in regards to current events.
One of his books, "Terrorism: An Islamic Perspective"
has been widely distributed.
