Ramadan 2011 (1432) Iftaar Program & Bookings



As salaamu'alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh



In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.  All praise and thanks are due to Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala), and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger (Sallalahu 'Alayhi Wa Salam).

By the grace, mercy and will of Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala), we will once again be given the opportunity to enjoy and seek the blessings of Ramadan which is quickly approaching us. 



Inshallah, the first day (fasting) of Ramadan is August 1st, 2011.

This is a tentative date and an official announcement will be posted on the website in the coming weeks.


This year (2011), IMO will only be having Iftaars on the weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.   We are now in the process of taking bookings for the Iftaars weekend dates.

There are three ways that a booking can be arranged for an Iftaar sponsorshiop:

 

  1. Individual Sponsorship.  Sponsorship of a weekend day (Friday, Saturday or Sunday)
  2. Group Sponsorship.  Join with 2 or more families to sponsor a weekend  day(Friday, Saturday or Sunday)
  3. Community Fund.  Give a monetary contribution that will be put in a pool that will accumulate to sponsor a weekend day (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).  Please give generously to the community fund.

Islam has certainly become a misunderstood religion and because of that sincere Muslims have already started paying the price. When you're unknown to people you become feared and look strange especially in this time of doubt and uncertainty. The recent unjustified backlash in North America, which burst out after the attack of September 11, is a proof of that fear. A new form of terrorism driven by frustration and anger has pushed some people against Muslims, Arabs, and other visible minorities. Have we really become immediate suspects in airports, border crossing and other places because we are different in our look and creed or is it simply a bad dream?
