Weekend Madressa

 

Quranic classes are held every Sunday for children ages six (6) years and up.  The hours of operation are from 10:00am to Zuhr Salah time.

 

The Madressa, designed for Islamic Studies commences in September and ends in June of the following year.  There are three basic classes:  

 

  1. Quran Memorization — Students memorize short Suras (Chapters) as identified for the respective class levels.

  2. Qirah/Tajweed — Students are grouped by their knowledge of Qaida/Quran recitation.  A special class is available for beginners nine (9) years and over.

  3. Islamic Studies — The program consists of three categories, namely: Aqeeda (beliefs); Aqhlaaq (ethics) and Basic Fiqh (jurisprudence).   The students are grouped by age and placed acccordingly.

From Apr 07/2009 - Oct 27/2009  after Maghrib Salah, Insha-Allah

Islam: a misunderstood religion

 

Islam has certainly become a misunderstood religion and because of that sincere Muslims have already started paying the price. When you're unknown to people you become feared and look strange especially in this time of doubt and uncertainty. The recent unjustified backlash in North America, which burst out after the attack of September 11, is a proof of that fear. A new form of terrorism driven by frustration and anger has pushed some people against Muslims, Arabs, and other visible minorities. Have we really become immediate suspects in airports, border crossing and other places because we are different in our look and creed or is it simply a bad dream?
